Dealer Development and Sales Support Manager

About

Bill has spent the past 45 years working in various segments of the livestock industry, providing him a broad base of experience in nutrition, production, sales, and management. He graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Illinois where he spent four years working on the swine research farm. He went on to work for a major meat packer in their corporate office in Chicago and then furthered his education by earning a Master’s degree in monogastric nutrition and management at Colorado State University.  At CSU, he was also employed as a Research Associate, managing the university’s swine, poultry, and gamebird farms.  As a graduate student, Bill taught the Gamebird Production course, Poultry Science course, and Swine Production course.

From there he managed the University of Kentucky poultry research farm in Lexington, KY before returning to his home state of Illinois, where he worked as a District Sales Manager for northeast Illinois and southeast Wisconsin for Wayne Feeds, a division of Continental Grain Company.  As District Sales Manager, Bill gained experience working with numerous retail feed stores in the Chicago metropolitan area that sold a large variety of companion animal feeds, in addition to working with the more rural feed dealers that sold to commercial dairy, beef, and swine producers.  It was there that he met Jon, Jan and their father, Alan Hueber, of Hueber and Sons Feed in 1990 and assisted this customer and others in growing their retail feed businesses.

While with Wayne Feeds, Bill worked in the role of Swine Specialist, and later, after Wayne was acquired by Hubbard Feed Company, he was appointed large swine accounts manager for the eastern United States. Bill then went on to work for a 10,000 sow antibiotic-free swine farm as manager of grow-finish operations, overseeing 200,000+ market hogs per year.

In 1997, Jon, Jan, and Bill formed a swine management company, Great Plains Management, LLC, and grew the business to over 50,000 managed sows as well as wean-to-finish management.  Coming full circle, Bill has once again joined the Hueber-Dekalb Feeds team as sales manager working with their highly skilled team of nutrition professionals and their retail feed dealerships.   Bill and his wife Mary-Beth relish time spent with their four daughters and 6 grandchildren. They live on their small acreage in northern Illinois where he enjoys many outdoor activities related to hunting and wildlife habitat management.
